PROCEDURE TEXT

  •      A procedure text is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people show difference processes in a sequence of steps. this text uses the SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE, often IMPERATIVE SENTENCES. It also usually uses the temporal conjunctions, such First, Second, then, next, finally, etc.
  • The structure of procedure text consist of three parts:
  1. GOAL (TITLE)
  2. MATERIAL
  3. STEPS
EXAMPLE:

THE HOLE GAME
Materials needed:     - Two players
                                    - One marble for each person
                                    - A hole in ground
                                    - A line (distance) to start from

Method (Steps):        First, you must club (dick marbles together)
Then you must: check that marbles are in good condition and are nearly
                                   worth the same value.
Next, you must dig a hole in the ground and draw a line a far distance away
                                   from the hole.
The first player carefully throws his or her marble towards the hole.
Then, the second player tries to throw his/her marble closer to the hole than
                                   his/her opponent.
The player whose marbles is closest to the hole tries to flick his/her marble
into the hole. If the player is successful, he tries to flick his/her opponent's
                                   marble into the hole.
The person flicking the that marble into the hole wins and gets to keep both
                                   marbles.
